Current Mood: annoyed
In a recent newspaper article, a female writer posed 10 questions about comic books.

The questions showed a complete lack of forsight and ability to do ANY research.

Following is my letter to their editor.

"Regarding "Top 10 questions I have about comic books" by Jennifer Brummett: while perhaps two of her questions are valid, the rest are easily answered. As I have no doubt other letters will answer them, I'd like to address how disappointing it is that you had to print an article that reinforces the misogynistic view that girls can't be geeks. For shame! Your paper will now forever be known across the comic geekdom as an utter joke. Thank you for making my life as a geek girl harder."

PS: I'm not dead.

...I know. I know. I just...got so tired of having nothing to say that I shut up a while. And that was bad, but...I'm messed up. You all know this. And sometimes I can't help it.

If you're ever really worried about me, check in with me over at [info]stardusted_lady. It's for roleplaying, and I've still be checking it--easier to be someone else, you know?

Also, since someone mentioned missing my icons, here's a bunch of new ones:

No, I'm not dead. I'm sorry to everyone who's been worried. I just...sometimes I get into moods, and don't want to do something, and there's absolutely NO rational reason for it.

I'm fine. Well, as fine as I can be. Honest. I just haven't felt like talking.

"Post a false memory of me. It can be anything you want, so long as it never happened. Then post this to your journal. See what people don't remember about you."

Friday Memes

From [info]fridayfiver:

1. Do you tend to exaggerate or underestimate?
It depends. I exaggerate for humor, and underestimate to keep my mom calm. She doesn't really need to know how bad I'm hurting.

2. What is the last "white" lie that you told?
"I'm fine, mom, really."

3. Can you forgive a liar?
Sometimes. It depends on what the lie was, and why it was told.

4. Do you hold a grudge?
Sometimes, usually more than is healthy. I'm working on it.

5. What's the biggest lie you've ever told?
I plead the 5th.

From Friday's Feast:

Appetizer - Who is the one person you email more often than anyone else?
I don't email much, really. Customer Service kinda counts as one person, right?

Soup - So far, which year of your life has been the most enjoyable?
Strangely, this year. The condo is great, and I'm loving it here. And I'm with my sweetie.

Salad - Name someone with whom you have lost touch but would like to reunite.
Nicole from high school. I wonder if she's a vet like she was planning?

Main Course - What was the tastiest meal you had this past week?
Pizza (beef, double cheese, pesto)

Dessert - Using the letters in your favorite color, write three words that describe your personality.
Dang, that's hard...

"I just want things to work properly."

Think about all the different ways that can be said aloud. Reassuring, whining, frustrated, calm...

Think about all the different people who can say that, and how the speaker changes the meaning. It's far different coming from an appliance repairman than from, say, Dr. Doom.

Words are sneaky.

I'm bored. So, answer these questions for me, and make me feel loved.

1. What should be the theme for my next set of icons?
2. What should be the next book I read?
3. Where's a good place to RP online that's not full of stupid children? (anyone who suggests a game run by Iron Realms is immediately off my friends list)
4. What is a really good comic (available online) to read?

So, Sweetie and I were discussing Marvel movies, and how craptacular the Fantastic Four movie is sounding. I mean, Doom with some weird organic space metal growing on him?! Not right.

So then we were discussing how such a suckfest was fortold in previous movies, like Daredevil and Elektra. We both feel that although Affleck does indeed look like Matt Murdoc, he wasn't right for the role. Sweetie proposed that a better move on the part of the casting agents would have been to do as was done for Wolverine, and find a no-name who fits the role perfectly. To prove this point, he asked me if I could think of anyone in Hollywood more suited for the role. I replied that perhaps there was someone capable of sounding Canadian (this was said in jest).

He looked at me for a moment, then said, "Scott Thompson?"

So now, the thought of Scott Thompson as Wolverine is stuck in your head too. Doncha just love me?

According to this test, I'm exactly 50% Gaiman pure. But that's total bull, because some of the books mentioned are no longer in print, I can name at least three not on the test, and I know all the words to "On the Wall", the song he wrote. Hells, I should get bonus points for having the complete Sandman series in both paperback and hardcover.

Today's theme? Flowers and their symbolism. Also, trying a new style. What do you think? I like it, personally.

If you're going to use them, that's cool. Please comment and let me know what you're taking, and when you use them please add my name to the keywords.

Enjoy!

Current Mood: silly
I've been having a lot of fun over in [info]sages_of_chaos lately. Bonus points to anyone other than my sweetie who figures out who I am there, by the by.

But here is the point: in the rules of the community, they clearly state you're allowed to play other real-life people. Including the Pope. So sweetie and I were contemplating Catholicism as Fandom. I say, it works. There are elaborate costumes, all sorts of clubs to join, rivalries with other similar fandoms, and chicks who want to marry the dead guy with a martyr complex who wear black and keep pictures of him nearby always.

(I mean no offense by this, I swear it! If you like, tomorrow I'll mock Pagans to make up for this.)

(Yes, I know I'm going to Hell. They have luau on Tuesdays, and the best weiner-and-marshmellow roasts ever.)
